The deceased, who had just attained 23 years, enlisted in the RNR during the war, but was discharged due to ill health. Upon recovery he rejoined, but met his end after only four months. Another of our brave seamen has “crossed the bar”. He leaves a widow to mourn his loss and to his old widowed mother (who is still living) his death will be a very sore blow indeed. Donald, by his wit and humour, would keep any company he happened to be in in merry mood. In his dealings with his fellow-men, he was said to be as straight as a die. He will be greatly missed, not only in his own village, but in the neighbouring township where he was so well known and admired.

Mr Angus Morrison, Dun-Carloway, has been notified that his son, Pte Neil Morrison, was killed in Mesopotamia on 22nd February [1917]. Prior to the war, Pte Morrison was serving with the colours in India. Much sympathy is felt for Mr Morrison and family.
