Kenneth was one of the children of Kenneth (1861) and Ann (1862), the others being Allan (1907), Donald (1901), Jessie (1905), John (1890), John (1892) Mary Ann (1888), Norman (1896) and Peggy (1898).

His brother Norman served in the Seaforths but survived the war; John also served in the Seaforth but was killed in 1918.
