Mr Robert Mackinnon, 13 Ranish, has been officially informed that his son John has died in France, five days after being wounded in action. John was the eldest son, and had been in France for more than a year. He was within a month of completing his twentieth year. This adds one more to the long list of young men belonging to this township who have fallen in the war.

Another Raerinish man has fallen - this time in Mesopotamia. Mr John Mackinnon, 8 Raerinish, has been informed of the death in action of his son John. The young soldier, only about 20 years of age, was one of 3 brothers serving with the forces.
