Angus was one of seven sons of John and Isabella who served in the RNR during the war.
Murdo, John senior and junior as well as Torquil survived
Donald was lost in the sinking of HMS Otway in 1918 and Kenneth was lost in the Iolaire Disaster of 1919.

The family is shown in the 1891 census, with John (54), Isabella (38) and their children Catherine (13), John (10), Torquil (8), Donald (6), Angus (4), Kenneth (2) and John (3 months).
