We find Donald in the 1901 census as a 3-year old at 22 Sheshader with his parents John (45) and Matilda (38) as well as his siblings Ann (14), Chirsty (11), Colin (10), Mary (7), Norman (5) and Cattrine (1).
His brother Colin served in the Seaforth Highlanders but was killed in 1917.
His brother Norman was also in the RNR, but survived the war.
