Stornoway Gazette, 20 April 1917
News has reached Crossbost that Daniel Mackenzie, son of Roderick
Mackenzie, has been killed at sea. He was engaged on board a
mine-sweeper, and has perished along with the rest of the crew. Deceased
was about thirty years of age, and – which renders his death specially
tragic – was married less than four months ago. The sympathy of the
community goes out to his aged parents and to his young wife, thus early
left a widow.
