Alexander John (aged 1) is shown in the 1901 census at 6 East Street in Sandwick at home with his parents Angus (43) and Mary (42) as well as his siblings Angus (13), Jessie (11), Kenneth (9), Helen B (7) and Philip (5).
His brothers Philip and Kenneth also served in the RNR and survived the war.
