Murdo is shown on the 1881 census with his parents Ewen (40) and Margaret (38) as well as his siblings Annie (12), Christiana (5), Alexander (4) and Catherine (2). A decade later, Malcolm (7) and Andrew (2) had been added to the family.
Andrew served with the Canadian Navy and survived the war. A brother named John A in the Roll of Honour served with the RNR and also survived.
