We find Murdo in the 1881 census as a 7-year old, living with his father Kenneth (40) and mother Nancy (39) as well as aunt (Nancy's sister) Janet. These two sisters originated from Farr in Sutherland. Also present were Murdo's siblings John (11), Hugh (9) and Anne (3).
