The 1901 census shows Murdo (8) with his parents Murdo (54) and Mary (50) with his siblings John (12), Malcolm (10), Mary (27) and Annie (6) as well as a large number of visitors from the village of Aird Tong, north of Stornoway.
Murdo's brother Malcolm served with the Canadian Army and John served with the RNR. Both survived the war
