A Mining Engineer. Volunteered Aug., 1914. Served in the Cameroons (1914-15), also in France (1916). Wounded at the Battle of Atbara in Kitchener Advance, 1898.
The 1881 census records Kenneth as a 4-month old infant, living at Upper Bayble with his parents Malcolm (50) and Rose (35) as well as his siblings Angus Edward (11),
Rose Augusta (10), James Matheson (8), Jessie Gilmour (7), John Thomson (5), Mary Jane (3) and Murdo Nicolson (2).
By 1891, the family had expanded to include William Matheson (9), George (3) and William (5 months) as well as Margaret (7) and Eliza (5), making it an impressive 13 siblings to Kenneth - at least.
His brother William Matheson Maciver was killed in 1918 whilst serving with the Rhodesians.
His brother James Matheson served as a major in East Africa;
His brother John Thomson was a sergeant during the war.
