  1. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission does not have a record of any Angus or A Mackenzie/MacKenzie/McKenzie having died on 1 November 1914.

The service number of the Angus Mackenzie in this post is 3/3111. He was born in 1876 to Louis Mackenzie & Christina McInnes at 1 Callanish. His siblings were Alistair (Alexander), Donald, Annie, Malcolm, Christine, Louis, Kenneth, Angus Murdo and Katie.in Callanish, He enlisted with the Cameron Highlanders in Inverness (date unknown), disembarked in France on 27 Nov 1914 and was "accepted" as dead on 22 Dec 1914 at the age of 38. At the time of his death he lived in Glasgow with his wife Mary Smith and their 6 children (Margaret, Christine, David, Joanne, Murdo & Ena).

The other Angus McKenzie (service # 3/5516) is recorded elsewhere on this blog. He was the son of John and Christina Mackenzie,8 Laxay, Lochs. He was born 1893/4. The beginning of the confusion arises because he too enlisted in 1914 with the Cameron Highlanders in Inverness. He disembarked on 1 Oct 1914, was hospitalized with frostbite during winter of 1914, then was injured and died of his wounds in Loos on 14 Oct 1915. He is buried (grave # 605) in the Chocques Military Cemetery in France.
