Malcolm was one of the children of Murdo and Mary (1862), the others being Ann (1899), Chirsty Ann (1901), Christina (1903), John (1898), Margaret (1909), Neil (1895) and Norman (1897).
His brothers Neil and John also served in the RNR, but survived the war.
