Angus was one of the children of William (1850) and Isabella (1856), the others being Chirsty (1890), Henrietta (1887), Mary (1886) and Norman Donald (1896). 

His brother [Norman] Donald served in the RNR and survived the war.

VALTOS HERO FALLS - Last week Mr. William MacKay, Valtos, received intimation of the death of his son, Pte. Angus MacKay, Gordon Highlanders, on the 28th June last, in the Casualty Clearing Station, France. He died from shell wound in the back. Pte. Mackay went to France very early in the war and had been wounded twice previously - the first time very seriously. Great sympathy is extended to his parents and relatives in their bereavement.
