We find Allan in the 1901 census, aged 5, at 28 Habost. He is the son of John (44) and Catherine (39) and brother to Catherine (16), Jessie (13), Annie (9) and Donald (7).
His brother Donald was killed on the Persian Gulf in January 1916 whilst also serving with the Seaforth Highlanders.
