We find Roase in the 1901 census at 40 Newton Street, living with his mother and older siblings John (33), Ellen (23), Johana (20), Flora (18), Georgina (16). In 1891, before Roase was born, we also encounter Jessie (19) and Robert (1).
His oldest brother, John, was a staff sergeant in the Royal Army Medical Corps during the Great War.
