Donald was one of the sons of Malcolm (1851) and Christina (1851), the others being Ann (1887), Christina Ann (1897), Christina (1882), Duncan (1895), Isabella (1884), Jean Ann (1886) and John Murdo (1895).
His brother Duncan was lost, serving in the RNR in 1917.
