Murdo was one of the children of Kenneth Nicolson (1843) and Catherine (1841), the others being Ann (1868), Annabella (1884), Catherine (1889), Christina (1877), Donald (1870), Isabella (1873), James (1882, died in infancy), John (1875), Kenneth (1879) and Mary (1886).
