 Malcolm is shown in the 1901 census at 43 Arnol, aged 16, the son of Norman (40) and Effie (36) and brother of Murdo (14), Christina (9), Mary Ann and Janet (both aged 5).

His brother Murdo was a sergeant in the Canadian Machine Gun Corps and survived the war.
