Alex features in the 1901 census, aged 7, at 11 Skigersta with his parents Norman (45) and Mary (39) as well as his siblings Murdo (13), Norman (11), Roderick (4) and John (1).
His brother John served in the RNR; Roderick was in the Merchant Navy and Norman was with the Canadian Army. These three all survived the war.
