Stornoway Gazette
It was with deep and widespread regret it became known that Mrs Malcolm
Macmillan, 13 Coulregrein, had received news that her son, Pte John
Macmillan, Canadian Mounted Rifles, had fallen in action on 8 August
1918. Pte Macmillan, aged 42, had been in Canada for a number of years
before the outbreak of war and was in the fighting line in France for
the past two years. He was always bright and cheery and was a general
favourite among his acquaintances. The sympathy of the whole community
is extended to his widowed mother, sisters and brother in their great
loss.
