Donald (junior) is shown in the 1901 census at home at 6 Back, aged 7, with his parents John (51) and Mary (48) as well as his siblings Roderick (23), Duncan (19), Donald (16), Catherine (12), John (10) and Anne (8).
His brothers Donald (senior) and Murdo were in the RNR and John was in the Canadian Army. These three all survived the war.
