In the census of 1901, Murdo and his wife Annie are showed at her parents' house, with their children Annie (4), Murdo (3) and Colin (9 months). He was the father of eight children in total, also Murdo, Effie, Peggy and Flora.
Murdo's sons Colin and Murdo also served in the RNR, but survived the war.
